Observing Preschool Children In Situ: Behavior and Environmental AssessmentSchool of Education, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA 01003 This paper presents a rationale for naturalistic assessment of young handicapped and nonhandicapped children in classrooms. The types of questions one may ask in completing such assessments and the implications for teaching are discussed.
